The Rambler

During Coffin on Cake PR's SS12 Press Day we showcased Fallen Footwear's latest team rider James Hardy and his first signature model shoe dubbed The Rambler after Hardy's love for the great outdoors and his unrelenting travels following a serious knee injury.

Facing surgery and months of healing that would prevent Hardy from skating, he decided travel solo around the United States on his motorbike, camping under the stars. From Alabama, to Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California, his trip took him across deserts, forests, swampland and mountains and the entire journey was documented on Hardy's Twitter and Instagram recording his encounters with bears, turtles, tornados and the characters he met along the way.

Celebrating Hardy's story his signature shoe The Rambler features a map of Hardy's home state of Alabama in the insole, teaming suede and wool with Hardy's leather signature tab on a FLX tapered midsole construction, allowing greater protection from impact in the heel area whilst allowing great flexibility and board feel in the forefoot.

You can follow James Hardy on Twitter and Instagram as @bamahardy and watch him online on Fallen Footwear's YouTube channel, for all PR agency information contact: press@coffinoncake.com

Cushe 'Love Me & Leaf Me'

This morning Coffin on Cake PR are feeling all things SS'12 and are very pleased to unveil Cushe's 'Love Me and Leaf Me' collection, and the laidback footwear brand's most feminine line to date.

Drawing inspiration from Cushe's love of travel, comfort and adventure, the collection is inspired by the exotic plant life of Amazonian rainforest, with Cushe's designers aiming to recreate the feeling of walking on the forest floor - soft, comfortable, free and airy.
Combining tropical tones like 'Papaya Orange' in high quality nubuck, a contoured leaf shaped sole unit and 'Arts & Crafts' style embroidery, the range doesn't just look great, but centre’s around wellbeing through ergonomic technology to offer a more posture conscious and corrective feeling with each Cushe step.

So whether you're strolling abroad, taking in the sites of somewhere exotic or just want to give your feet a holiday, you can simply feel a bit more Cushe where ever you are.For Fashion PR Agency details contact: press@coffinoncake.com

Cruisin' For A Bruisin'

Coffin on Cake PR are mostly Cruisin' For A Bruisin' at the Londonewcastle Project Space on Redchurch Street and are looking forward to the Private View this week. The exhibition finishes on Sunday and is open from 11am – 6pm daily so come and give your eyeballs a treat, see all the details below and online here:

EMMA RICHARDSON | CRUISIN’ FOR A BRUISIN’ | 02.02.12-12.02.12
Emma Richardson, the bassist and vocalist in Band of Skulls, presents her first solo exhibition in London, a series of paintings created in response to music by the Southampton three-piece whose debut album Baby Darling Doll Face Honey enjoyed widespread critical acclaim. They release their second, much-anticipated album, Sweet Sour, in February and this exhibition marks another artistic highlight for Richardson, in a year that looks set to see the band’s meteoric rise continue.

The exhibition consists of two groups of works, corresponding to the first two albums by Band Of Skulls. The first series formed the artwork for their debut album, released in 2009, when Richardson’s paintings were photographed and then digitally manipulated to create the cover. The process was extended and developed for their forthcoming second album, for which Richardson worked with the designer Vincent Toi and the creative team at The PHI Centre in Montreal, Canada, who by turn enlisted glass artists Cédric Ginart and Karina Guevin to make a glass sculpture inspired by Richardson’s paintings. The resulting collaboration was photographed and became the cover image for the album.

Heavily influenced by painting masters including Cy Twombly and Lucien Freud, Richardson’s large-scale abstract paintings exploit the medium of oil on canvas to explore the nature of the human form, whilst making use of the visceral quality of the medium against the rough texture of the linen on which she works.

Richardson’s work is concerned with the ambiguous and the abstract, as well as the nature of symmetry and reflection.

Music is a key part of Richardson’s life, and she acknowledges a strong link between her musical and her artistic outputs, enlisting similar processes of re-working and revisiting until a finished product is reached within both disciplines. The relationship between the two mediums is a reciprocal marriage of creativity, with the music informing and inspiring her paintings, and the paintings lending the music a visual identity.
